Turkish delight: Workers lay out carpets to weather them before export

-

Workers carefully lay carpets and rugs out to dry in Dosemealti, Turkey. The country is famous for its artisan carpets that are sold all over the world but before they are sent to stores, masses of handmade carpets, flat woven kilims and embroidered rugs from all over Turkey are sent to the Dosemealti district in Antalya. The carpets are then laid out in the sun and are turned regularly so as to soften the colours and give them a classic antique look.

Turkey’s carpet industry employs more than 40,000 people and exports have risen in the past five years to more than US$10 billion.
