Laura Muir strikes gold on final day of European Championships

2 In a great day for Scottish athletes at the European Championships yesterday Laura Muir became the first British woman to win the 1,500m title while Eilish Mccolgan, inset, won silver in the 5,000m.
Laura Muir enjoyed the breakthrough of a first major outdoor title gaining 1,500m gold on a glorious night for Scottish athletics in Berlin, that also saw Eilish Mccolgan win a silver medal in a remarkable 5,000m. It was the perfect end to the season for Muir, who also qualified as a vet after her final exams.
