Sssh, it’s a march
Lesley Riddoch (Perspective, 13 August) slates the BBC for not giving publicity to Braveheart rent-a-mob idiots with painted faces waving their wee flags and revving up their “warhorses” to the despair and alarm of the residents of, and respectable visitors to, the targeted towns.
I would guess that the folks of these towns who rely so much on tourism would take an entirely different view.

In her latest Scotsman article, Lesley Riddoch seems unable to contain her glee that this summer, she claims, the viewing figures of certain flagship BBC programmes may have declined and expresses her agreement with a Twitter user who describes the BBC news as “unprofessional, superficial and derivative”.
Also, Ms Riddoch seems enthused at “unhappy English Labour voters – finally sharing the disenchantment with Aunty felt north of the Border since 2012” and because of this and their coverage of Scottish independence marches, viewers are being encouraged to switch off BBC radio and television. Her suggestion that working class Scots like, questionably, herself are quicker to recognise BBC bias is not proven and very unsavoury.
In my view, bashers of the BBC such as the SNP expect the broadcaster to be a mouthpiece for their propaganda. When this does not happen they regard the BBC as yet another source of grievance. The fact that the BBC has “British” in its title seems to be regarded by the SNP as a justifiable reason for it to be hated and attacked. Is there no limit to their harbouring of division in Scotland?
