Edinburgh wins bid to host world health event
Edinburgh has won the bid to host the World One Health Congress in 2020, which is predicted to bring a £3.3 million boost to the local economy.
The capital successfully secured the internationally renowned health conference after competitive bidding against other European cities. The event will take place at the EICC over four days and involve more than 2,000 people.
Anna Meredith of the University of Edinburgh, a key member of the bid team, said: “We look forward to showcasing the work of Scotland’s worldleading collective of research institutes and engaging with other stakeholders to improve the health of people, animals and the environment.”
