Edinburgh wins bid to host world health event

Edinburgh has won the bid to host the World One Health Congress in 2020, which is predicted to bring a £3.3 million boost to the local economy.

The capital successful­ly secured the internatio­nally renowned health conference after competitiv­e bidding against other European cities. The event will take place at the EICC over four days and involve more than 2,000 people.

Anna Meredith of the University of Edinburgh, a key member of the bid team, said: “We look forward to showcasing the work of Scotland’s worldleadi­ng collective of research institutes and engaging with other stakeholde­rs to improve the health of people, animals and the environmen­t.”
