Fortress Almondvale

Top-flight football returned to Almondvale on Saturday as we welcomed Kilmarnock. After being brilliant since Steve Clarke’s arrival, I would have taken a point before the game. I think we can be encouraged by what we saw.

We more than matched Killie for the majority of the game, and the contest as a whole was fairly even, with both sides having spells of domination. A point and a clean sheet against one of last season’s top six shows we are not out of our depth. I agree with Kenny Miller that, from what I’ve seen so far, we’ll be “more than competitive” in the majority of our games.

Our home form will be crucial if we are to survive – we need to make Almondvale a place where teams don’t want to come.
