St Johnstone

Great entertainment

- SJ

Beforehand most supporters would have settled for a draw and a backs-to-the-wall performance. The game was the best seen at Mcdiarmid for a long time. Hibs, unlike so many opposition teams, played an open, attacking game, contributing to an entertaining 90 minutes in which both teams threatened.

Saints, playing two wide players willing and able to take on the full-backs, looked a much better balanced unit than at Killie. The wet grassy pitch contributed to players making excellent use of the ball, adding significantly to the quality of play and the entertainment.

New players are learning the Saints way, best demonstrated by Tony Watt back helping out in the 18-yard box late on.
