Pray & Display?

Jane Bradley’s question on Saturday as to whether it is right that worshippers should be charged to enter the likes of Iona Abbey and other important religious buildings is easily resolved by installing “smart” ticket machines which would dispense chargeable tickets to casual tourists and sightseers or free “Pray & Display’”passes to those seeking genuine worship.

How such a system would be policed is another matter – “praying wardens” perhaps, prowling to ensure that the free pass-holders remain in a constant state of genuflection.
