#PENGUINERECTOR

Yesterday Twitter users were thrilled by a supposed job at Edinburgh Zoo. Someone had suggested the zoo employs a ‘penguin erector’, whose job it is to pick up birds that fall over after looking up at passing aircraft.

@Necklaceofgems posted: “For a moment was thinking of changing careers.”

@cecwhitaker joked: “I thought this was going to be a much weirder job than the one described.”

@drianflanagan added: “This may be the only time I will ever use the #penguinerector hashtag but I want to change career.”

@n_kassia commented: “World’s greatest job.”

@MJJ_616 said: “The Edinburgh Zoo is going to be so confused when 100,000 people apply to be penguin erectors there.”

@cortinadave asked: “Surely this isn’t really a thing, @Edinburghzoo?”

@Edinburghzoo clarified: “We’re sure this will come as a disappointment to many but there is no such position here at Edinburgh Zoo. It’s a very popular rumour, but penguins do not track planes as they fly overhead. Any clumsy penguin behaviour tends to be unrelated to aircraft.”

#CRUNCHYBOX

A mammoth ‘family crunchy box’ posted by a Scottish chippy has divided Twitter creating a huge debate over the 6,800 calorie meal. East West Spice in Greenock posted a picture of the box, which includes four different battered suppers, chips, onion rings, fritters and a two litre bottle of Irn-bru, which they sell for £10.

@Rossmccaff tweeted: “A chippy in my hometown is selling this ‘crunch box’ for a TENNER and if you don’t think it looks like the most appetizing thing ever then there’s no hope for you.”

@Joannablythman replied: “One of Scotland’s defects: celebrating crap food. No wonder so many Scots are fat and sick.”

@alansmith1972 added: “There would be a law for this. Or even a bio hazard label on it.”

@Boab10s posted: “It looks so bland. Never mind unhealthy.”

@dtaylor5633 snarked: “I really dunno how Scots get past childhood.”

@Onnyponny joked: “Isn’t this missing the fried Mars bars?”

@Kateell777 said: “I’m a total health freak... I even grow my own fruit and veg but maynnnnn I’d have a crack at this lot! Real treats there.”

@craigmair1138 wrote: “This looks sensational, so much beige, crunchy salty beige.”
