USP House in the woods

-

Tucked down a quiet lane a mile from the village of Mauchline, in East Ayrshire, Woodland View is cedar wood house that would make an ideal holiday home.

It was built and designed by Stairhill Architects in 2010, and

while it may look like something from a fairy tale, it is very modern inside.

A revolving wood burning stove on a marble plate is in pride of place in the open-plan dining and sitting room and there are double doors leading out to the balcony.

The kitchen is finished in white gloss units with a large range style cooker. There is a bedroom, utility room with plumbing for washing machine and tumble dryer, and a large wet room completing the accommodation on the ground floor.

On the first floor, there are three bedrooms in all, master with fitted wardrobes and ensuite bathroom and a double bedroom with ensuite shower room. There is a rear patio with a climbing honeysuckle and an electric hot tub.

The planning consent is for 11

months occupancy and it has been managed successfully with 32 weeks holiday let in the last 12 months, so it could be used exclusively by the owners, or cover its own costs.

There is permission for a second chalet in the one and a half acres of grounds.
