Armed response

-

Media reports of opposition politicians calling on the Scottish Government to ban health-damaging mesh implants are surprising when we don’t have the powers to do so. Only the Londonbased Medicine & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency can ban them and that’s the responsibility of Westminster.

Also, reports that Scottish Enterprise has given the arms firm Raytheon £135,465 since 2014 failed to mention the Labour Government in Wales has given the company over three times as much or that it is the UK Tory government that allows bombs and other armaments to be exported to Saudia Arabia and used in Yemen against civilians.

Surely the BBC and other broadcasters have a duty to make cursory internet searches to ascertain and explain what powers are reserved and what the position is in England or Wales before churning out political party press releases as gospel?
