Knockhill set for annual visit of British Touring Car Championship

-

Knockhill Racing Circuit is gearing up to host a thrilling weekend of action as the British Touring Car Championship returns to Scotland.

With the championship still far from decided and three races scheduled for this weekend fans are pretty much guaranteed some spectacular racing.

Colin Turkington heads into round 22 just four points ahead of title rival Tom Ingram and with Ashley Sutton, Jack Goff and Matt Neal all still within reach.

Among the other drivers lining up on the grid this weekend will be Scots teammates Rory Butcher, pictured above, and Glynn Geddie, both racing for AMD with AUTOAID/RCIB Insurance Racing.

Butcher made his BTCC debut at Knockhill last year and it will be only Geddie’s second race in the bt cc after a four-year hiatus.

The circuit will also be celebrating 60 years of the BTCC with a display of cars from throughout the event’s history. From the 1950s right through to the 2010s there will be classic touring cars on show on Saturday and Sunday. The action starts on Saturday with free practices and qualifying for both the main event and support races. The day finishes with races in the Ginetta GT5 and F4 championships.

On Sunday there are no fewer than 10 races, including the Porsche Carrera Cup, the Ginetta Junior Championship and three rounds of the BTCC.
