No change to presenter role on Russian TV show
Alex Salmond will continue to present his weekly news and current affairs TV show on RT despite the harassment allegations.
He was given a vote of confidence by the Russian statefunded broadcaster yesterday which insisted this was a personal matter for the former first minister.
A spokesman for the broadcaster said: “This is a personal issue for Mr Salmond and all inquiries should be directed to him. The Alex Salmond Show will continue to air on RT at this time.”
The former first minister insisted he does not intend to give up the show while the Court of Session judicial review into his case is heard.
He said: “I don’t intend to change any of my activities. I’ve made a statement denying the complaints, absolutely denying any criminality and I shall proceed with my life and activities as best I can and as normal a situation as I can.”
Mr Salmond has come under fire over his role in presenting the show amid claims that he is being used to legitimise a Kremlin-backed propaganda mouthpiece.
He says the show is produced by his own production company and he has full control over its content.
