Belfast blaze: 50ft flames as huge fire rips through just-refurbished Primark store in city centre
A fire gutted a Primark store in Belfast in one of the city’s biggest blazes for years. Flames and thick black smoke engulfed the five-storey historic building in the city centre. More than 100 firefighters battled for over six hours as the fire ripped through the Bank Buildings. The building, which has been in the heart of Belfast’s shopping district since 1787, had recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment. Flames reaching at least 50 feet could be seen right across Belfast’s skyline.
