@abbiegbrock joked: “Did I just move a meeting forward so I wouldn’t miss Bake Off? Yes. Yes I did”
#FOODPRICES
The Centre for Economics and Business Research has said food prices are to increase by 5 per cent as a result of the hot weather, costing the average household £7.15 a month.
@Cebr_uk reported: “Cebr analysis, out today, estimates that the extreme weather is set to cost UK consumers £45 million per week = £7.15/month/ household. The price of onions, carrots, lettuce, wheat and strawberries have already risen by a fifth or more since March.”
@Mollymep added: “Morning Star asked me to comment on the impact of the climate-changed extreme summer weather on food prices. The reality of more costly food demonstrates again that climate change is a class issue.”
@nich769 commented: “British consumers face average 5% (£7.15 per month) rise in food prices due to #extremeweather this year, according to @Cebr_uk. Price of wheat for bread +20%, strawberries +28%, carrots +41% & lettuce +61%”
