Lightyears ahead: Purelifi launches wireless trial at Ayrshire school
School pupils in Ayr have become the first in the world to benefit from next-generation wireless internet connectivity using light, after Edinburgh-based technology company Purelifi installed its LIFI-XC system at Kyle Academy secondary school. Paul Wheelhouse, MSP minister for energy, connectivity and the islands, front centre, said the trial represented a “potentially very valuable contribution” to our understanding of 5G technology. He visited the school along with Alistair Banham, back centre, and Harald Haas, back right, of Purelifi.
