Fine margins

County’s defeat at Cappielow isn’t going to define the season but it underlines how difficult it will be to be promoted at the first time of asking. Any slip-up is going to allow other sides to leapfrog up the table and Morton’s home win puts them joint top, albeit we are not even ten per cent into the league campaign yet.

The 2-1 loss was a game of fine margins, where County took the lead but could probably have had a cushion of a couple of goals before Michael Tidser cancelled out Don Cowie’s opener. The team played well enough to get a result on the whole, you won’t concede 25-yard screamers every week, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. County need to start getting into their stride to challenge for the title.
