#FRANKFIELD

Veteran Labour MP Frank Field has resigned the party whip at Westminster, accusing the leadership of becoming a “force for antisemitism”.

@Sam_stopp_27: “I resigned as a Labour councillor over Labour’s antisemitism crisis and the party leadership’s wilful ignorance of the issue. It is heartening to see Frank Field MP now do the same. Hopefully he will be the first of many to start showing some backbone.”

@Jacqui_smith1

commented: “Dear Corbynites criticising Frank Field for voting with the Tories against his own party. This is what Jeremy did consistently before he became leader. However, he felt able to stay in a broad church, inclusive Labour Party. What’s different now?!”

@Owenjones84 said: “This isn’t about the disgusting disease of anti-semitism. Frank Field jumped before he was pushed because he voted to prop up Theresa May and her extreme Tory Brexit plans.”

@Misselliemae posted: “From now on I’m gonna carry myself with the self confidence of Frank Field imagining that he got a 25,000 majority because of his personal integrity and charisma and not simply because he was wearing a Labour rosette”

#JACOBBRESSMOGG

Jacob Rees-mogg has said Scotland should be allowed to hold a second referendum on independence – but not for around 20 years. The Tory MP, one of the party’s most hard-line Brexiteers, made the comments as he arrived in Scotland on a short speaking tour.

@shaw_83 said: “Luckily it’s not for @mogg_ jacob to decide if Scotland is ‘entitled’ to another #indyref2. Scotland will make that decision.”

@The_mighty_s

commented: “Yet another suit (and top hat, in this case) coming up here telling us what we can’t do. If we want independence now... we’ll be taking it. It’s a union of EQUALS. We know JRM *thinks* England is in charge. Not any more. #Yeswecan”

@naedugnoo added: “How often do Scottish Tory MPS do a tour of England telling them what and when they can do anything”

@lord_prefab posted: “Why should we care what a backbench MP for the county of Somerset in England, has to say about the country of Scotland?”
