Swanson in Saints return

- By MOIRA GORDON

Danny Swanson has left Hibs to return to St Johnstone, looking to rejuvenate his career. The Perth club have also signed Ross Callachan from Hearts.

Swanson, 31, has already enjoyed two successful spells at the Perth club, scoring 15 goals in the 201617 season, and only the lure of playing for his boyhood heroes enticed him to leave Perth last summer.

But chances have been limited at Hibs and the arrival of Emerson Hyndman and Daryl Horgan at Easter Road left him down the pecking order.

Ross County and Dundee were both linked with the former Coventry player, while Dundee United were also credited with an interest. But Swanson has instead opted to reunite with Tommy Wright, the manager who got the best out of him during his previous stints at Mcdiarmid Park.

Midfielder Callachan, meanwhile, has signed a two-year deal with Saints after leaving Hearts.
