Aberdeen reject huge offer for Mckenna from Aston Villa

-

Aberdeen last night dismissed a significant offer from Aston Villa for Scott Mckenna.

The English Championship side, who bought John Mcginn from Hibs last month, are said to have proposed a loan deal, with a view to a permanent transfer in January.

A figure of between £6 million and £7m is believed to have been offered for the 21-year-old centre-half, who has four Scotland caps.

The Pittodrie side rejected the offer due to the lack of time available to bring in a replacement, according to the BBC.

Celtic offered £3.5m for Mckenna earlier this month, with the Dons rejecting that approach, too. Hull and Swansea have also shown interest.

Mcinnes said this week: “Mckenna’s market, for me, will be the English Premier League. We’re not in a position where we need to do a deal.

“We want him to be a big part for us this season and for me he’ll go to the English Premier League, and we’ll get the bigger ticket on the back of that.”

Aberdeen were linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon’s former Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld but last night he sealed a season-long loan move to Portuguese second division side Farense.
