- By ANGUS HOWARTH

An attack which saw a man left seriously injured after a Fiat Punto was driven at him is being treated by the police as attempted murder.

Police Scotland said the 30-year-old victim suffered a number of serious injuries in the incident, which took place at about 7pm on Saturday in Glebe Road, Whitburn, West Lothian.

A group of men were heard arguing in the street before the black vehicle was driven at the man, who was being treated in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary yesterday.

The Punto left the scene, heading towards the town of Armadale, while a black Audi A5 car was seen to drive off towards the Fauldhouse area.

Police are working to trace those who were in the cars, and are appealing for any other information.
