Salmon company forced to defend lice-infested fish

-

Fish farms have been blamed for the deaths of wild salmon on the Isle of Lewis.

Salmon and Trout Conservation Scotland said wild fish had been found dead or dying at the mouth of the Blackwater river at Loch Roag.

The campaign group is alleging the Scottish Salmon Company’s seven fish farms in the area were responsible, claiming fish have been infested by sea lice. A video and photographs have been released of the lice-infected salmon. The Scottish Salmon Company told the BBC it took fish health “very seriously”.
