Arrest made as man found dead on town footpath

A man has been charged after a body was found on a footpath in North Lanarkshire.

The discovery was made around 1:55am on Monday in Suna Path, near Laggan Avenue in Shotts.

Police Scotland confirmed a 32-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 48-year-old man.

He was due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday.

The alleged victim is yet to be formally named.

A Police Scotland spokesman said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
