Alloa Athletic One that got away

There was a tinge of disappointment following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United – it was a game Alloa dominated for long spells and they were certainly the better team on the day.

Hopefully there’s no retrospective regret later in the campaign that they didn’t pick up the win. Nevertheless it was a brilliant effort from the team, and Iain Flannigan’s Beckhamesque free-kick equaliser will live long in the memory.

United manager Csaba Laszlo’s post-match comments paying lip service to the artificial surface and narrow pitch were music to the ears – we want every Championship manager visiting Alloa to feel that pain.
