Mark Twain’s advice came to mind when I read that a growing number of Scots believe global warming is an imminent threat: “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it’s time to pause and reflect.”

There may still be people who believe the nonsense that 97 per cent of scientists believe in anthropogenic global warming, an execrable piece of scientific“fake news” that has been endlessly refuted.

In fact, the turning point for professional scientists like me was the nefarious activities exposed by the Climategate whistleblower, which should have resulted in the instant dismissal of every climate scientist involved. (REV DR) JOHN CAMERON
