Aberdeen-based Wood extends Hess relationship with Gulf of Mexico deal
0 Robin Watson is the chief executive of Aberdeen’s Wood Global energy company Hess Corporation has extended its relationship with Aberdeenheadquartered Wood, awarding it a three-year deal in the Gulf of Mexico.
The two businesses have worked together for more than 25 years on a wide range of projects and the latest work, for the provision of operations, maintenance and other support services in the region, will be performed under a global enabling agreement, implemented last year.
Hess and Wood – headed by chief executive Robin Watson – said they were committed to a “transparent, cooperative partnership based on continuous improvement”.
Using “proven methodologies”, the two teams aim to remove waste and improve performance, “leading to safe and reliable operations”.
Andrew Stewart, chief executive of Wood’s asset solutions Americas business, said: “This award enables Wood to continue to assist Hess in the Gulf of Mexico as we unlock our combined potential to create more efficiency through innovation.
“We share the same operational excellence mindset and fully expect to achieve meaningful progress in safety, performance and cost savings.”
Wood employs some 60,000 people and operates in more than 60 countries. Last month, the group strengthened its presence in Norway after being awarded two major contracts.
The firm said that
it had secured new “strategic modifications” contracts with Equinor for the Mongstad refinery near Bergen, growing its downstream capability in the Nordic nation.
The scope of the work includes front-end engineering design (FEED) for a gas project and engineering and procurement services to reduce sulphur content in petrol produced at the refinery.
