Dog days

-

Dogs have been banned from all Wetherspoons pubs. The food and drink chain said reasons for the ban included the fact that animals can be unpredictable and customers, many of whom include children, may not be fans of the four-legged friends.

My dog is much better behaved than some of the adults and kids that go there.

Allana Dempsey

The difference between dogs and kids is you can’t leave your kids home alone. Last time I ate out I ended up with someone’s dog just about in my plate but it was fine because it was “friendly”. I like dogs but not in eating establishments. Most kids I see out eating are pretty good – the occasional one might play up but parents are between a rock and a hard place: punish your child and get glares, don’t punish and

get glares. The UK is the most child unfriendly place in Europe.

Paula Parkins Here’s a thought: the fact that you chose to have dogs, or kids, doesn’t mean you get to take them everywhere you want to go. The rest of us shouldn’t have to put up with them when we want an evening out.

Any chance of finding a pub without children?

Nicola Marilllier

What are children doing at a pub – that’s an adult playground!

Paula J Bernard Davis

Alcohol isn’t good for dogs anyway.

Lindsay Smart With a few drinks on board, the regular customers can be a bit unpredictable too. Simple solution: go to a different pub.

Joan Simpson Rather have dogs in pubs than noisy brats.

Viv Haig You used to be one.

David Learmont

When I was a noisy brat, children weren’t allowed in pubs. Surely there must be somewhere adults can relax without being disturbed by other people’s kids?

Elizabeth Summerfield

Most were sat outside with a Coke and the radio until their folks came back to take them home after four pints and a few Babychams!

Vicki Watsonian

I’d much rather have a dog than screaming children running around putting their sticky hands all over your table while parents are oblivious.

Dee Croker Good news for folk who are allergic to them. You go for a pint and a burger, not a dose of fleas. They should ban dogs in every pub, especially the ones that sell food.
