Captain Clark bullish about Scots’ title bid

- By MARTIN DEMPSTER

Matthew Clark, the playing captain, is looking for Scotland to put up a “strong showing” in the Men’s Home Internationals, which start today at Conwy in Wales.

The Scots last lifted the Raymond Trophy in 2012 at Glasgow Gailes and face a tough start against Ireland, winners for the last four years.

However, Clark reckons a side that contains two Eisenhower Trophy team members, Ryan Lumsden and Euan Walker, as well as Scottish Amateur champion Euan Mcintosh, is capable of upsetting the odds.

“We have an exciting team this year with a great deal of hunger to improve upon the last couple of years’ outings,” said the Kilmacolm man, who is making his seventh successive appearance in the fourcornered event.

“The guys have bonded well since learning of their selection and as a captain and leadership group I feel we are better prepared at this point than we have been in the past.”
