Not ‘deplorable’

-

Married to an Anglo-swede I’m aware of the Nordic nation’s desire to be a model of tolerance, a welfare state open to the world. But there’s an alarming belief among the

elite in Swedish “exceptionalism” echoing Angela Merkel’s claim that Germany could do what lesser nations couldn’t as regards immigrants.

Discussion of the effects of mass immigration has been discouraged until now when one-third of babies are born to immigrants who, mostly uneducated and refusing to learn Swedish, are virtually unemployable but are hugely over-represented when it comes to demanding welfare and causing violent crime.

I have no doubt that, like the Blessed Hilary, centre-left leaders refer to those who voted again them as “deplorables” but most are ordinary people squeezed out of social housing, who face an ever increasing wait to see a doctor, who cannot get their kids into local schools and fear to walk the streets at night.
