To sales spike

- By SCOTT REID

Callander-based distiller Mcqueen Gin has cheered a surge in turnover thanks to product listings in major retailers this year.

The firm said that following on from the sales success, the decision had been taken to bring forward plans to expand its distillery, increasing capacity by 1,000 per cent.

Reporting a 280 per cent leap in turnover, the firm said it had secured major retail listings including Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Aldi, and is set to launch in Asda this month.

This includes the launch of its Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin in Aldi, which outperformed initial sales targets by 480 per cent and has resulted in the demand for supply of the product across the UK.

Co-founder and managing director, Dale Mcqueen, said: “This year has been a bit of a whirlwind for us.

“It’s been exciting to see our products make it onto more supermarket shelves and behind more of the country’s best bars, but more than anything, to hear the fantastic feedback from our customers.”
