A9 maintenance firm blamed for missing landslip

-

A maintenance company may have overlooked a landslip below a section of the A9 for as long as three months.

Bear Scotland said the road was inspected weekly, but small landslips of this type near Helmsdale could be hard to spot.

But Highland councillor Matthew Reiss claimed it was lucky the landslip had not led to a serious incident.

In a statement, the trunk road operator said: “The slip has not damaged the road and the single lane working was introduced as a temporary safety measure.”
