Shooter kills six people in California gun tragedy

A man has shot and killed six people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself in California.

There was no immediate word on what sparked yesterday’s shootings in Bakersfield, about 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

The man and his wife drove to a trucking business in the city, where the man allegedly shot dead two men and his wife.

He is then alleged to have driven to another residence where he shot dead two more people.

After hijacking a vehicle with a woman and child in it, the man was then confronted by a deputy and shot himself dead. Police are still investigating the motives behind the killings.

“Obviously, these are not random shootings,” Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said.
