Art’s miles better

-

First it was Glasgow, now it’s Dundee’s turn to be the best city of culture in Scotland, with the stunning V&A facility leaving poor Aberdeen in the doldrums and without an art gallery for years.

However, all is not lost and the much delayed reopening

of the Aberdeen Art Gallery will be soon and for those who can’t remember, it is located on Schoolhill at the end of Belmont Street with imposing fine granite features and the brown containers on its roof.

Aberdeen City can take some comfort from the comparison when you see how much less Aberdeen gets in financial

support from Holyrood, as the Central Belt will continue to get the lions’ share. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN
