Men charged for petrol sta­tion raid dur­ing spree

Two men have been charged over a string of house­break­ings in Mid­loth­ian.

Po­lice stopped a car in Penicuik on Thurs­day af­ter­noon and sub­se­quently charged the pair. The Audi had been stolen in a house­break­ing in Loanhead the pre­vi­ous night.

The charges also re­late to a theft from a petrol sta­tion and fur­ther thefts in the Loanhead and Dalkeith ar­eas. The men, aged 23 and 41, were ex­pected to ap­pear be­fore Ed­in­burgh Sher­iff Court yes­ter­day.

PC De­clan Hogg said a se­ries of items had been re­cov­ered.
