#DONALDTRUMP US president Donald Trump took to Twitter to dispute the revised death toll in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria, instead accusing Democrats of inflating the figures.

@schmidtsam7, a Washington Post journalist, tweeted: “The island had a total infrastructure collapse. Patients languished in hospitals without power. Damaged roads made it impossible for people to get dialysis. Medical specialists were virtually nonexistent. We know because we’ve talked to these families.”

@arelisrhdz, Schmidt’s colleague, posted: “Nowhere in the months I spent reporting/living in Puerto Rico did I not encounter reports of the dead/ dying. The destruction’s magnitude, prolonged humanitarian crisis and suffering I witnessed was a testament to Maria’s deadliness. The people knew. Gravediggers knew. Gov’t knew.”

#NAVAGIOBEACH

Tourists on the Greek island of Zante had a lucky escape after part of a cliff face at popular Navagio Beach collapsed. Several received minor injuries.

@Molly_guest shared: “Pretty terrifying to be at Shipwreck Beach, Zakynthos this morning. One minute, enjoying the beach and taking photos of the shipwreck, next minute large rocks start falling, boats are being overturned and people running and panicking. So surreal, it was like I was watching a film.”

@_augustsmith said: “So sad to hear part of the cliff on shipwreck beach has fallen off no reports so far on injury’s but what a tragic moment for Zakinthos! Shipwreck is one of the most historic and well popular tourist stop off point.”

#BIGBROTHER

Channel 5 has announced that the new series of Big Brother, which launched yesterday, will be the last series it will broadcast.

@Hylandian wrote: “No surprise that Channel 5 has finally binned off Big Brother. They’ve been wanting to shift away from the “cheap and tacky” label for years and they felt BB was the main thing holding them back. I doubt the Roxanne and Rodrigo stuff helped. Sky is probably BB’S best bet now.”

@nickw84 said: “Proof positive that Channel 5 absolutely hated Big Brother by doing that announcement on the day of the launch episode.”
