Open tunnel day: Barnton Nuclear Bunker to reveal secrets of Cold War

The entrance tunnel at Barnton Nuclear Bunker, three miles from Edinburgh city centre, which is undergoing a restoratio­n after being abandoned in the 1980s, after which it was vandalised and set on fire. Organisers lifted the lid on Scotland’s largest nuclear bunker ahead of exclusive doors open day. The Barnton Quarry bunker was one the UK’S most vital strategic sites during the Cold War.
