Open tun­nel day: Barn­ton Nu­clear Bunker to re­veal se­crets of Cold War

The en­trance tun­nel at Barn­ton Nu­clear Bunker, three miles from Ed­in­burgh city cen­tre, which is un­der­go­ing a restora­tion af­ter be­ing aban­doned in the 1980s, af­ter which it was van­dalised and set on fire. Or­gan­is­ers lifted the lid on Scot­land’s largest nu­clear bunker ahead of exclusive doors open day. The Barn­ton Quarry bunker was one the UK’S most vi­tal strate­gic sites dur­ing the Cold War.
