Historic sites around Scotland have enjoyed a record-breaking year for visitors, with more than five million people paying to access castles, palaces and other attractions for the first time.
This is crazy. We welcome tourists, of course, but we have to charge a modest tourist tax that is now long overdue and would not put visitors off Scotland. Shows the tiny minds of the SNP when they cannot admit the obvious.

Cut the lavish salaries of the high-ranking quangocrats, their first class travel and five-star hotels on their jollies and put the cash into maintenance of these sites. Job done.

Edinburgh Castle, probably by virtue of the lack of actual attractions in the city, is ridiculously popular, mainly with the type of tourist who likes to tick boxes, but most come away very disappointed, saying it’s not good value for money.

Once Brexit kicks in, tourists will stop coming and trade will stop.
Brexit means Brexit.
Don’t worry: once Scotland has become independent, all the visitors will stop coming and ruining it for the locals.
