Dr A Mccormick (Letters, 17 September) highlights the multi-billion pound cost, equivalent to the budget of the NHS, as the energy bills of Scottish consumers are tripled by the Holyrood policy of phasing out gas as an energy source over the next decade.
However, as Westminster plans to cap energy bills at around £1,165, it has not been explained to Scots whether English consumers will continue to provide a subsidy to Scots worth 92 per cent of the multi-billion pound gas replacement cost or if it is decided that Holyrood policies must be met out of the existing Scottish budget.
If the latter option is selected will there be a £7,000 a year tax increase approved by MSPS to ensure public service budgets are protected from the cost of zero emission policies arising from Holyrood ?
