Pensioner dies after being hit by car

A 78-year-old woman has died in hospital after being hit by a car as she crossed the road.

Rose O’donnell from Motherwell was struck on Airbles Road in the town on Saturday.

The collision involving a Nissan Qashqai happened at around 11:25am.

Mrs O’donnell was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where she died on Tuesday. The 42-year-old man driving the car was not injured.
