Man assaulted by pair in balaclavas

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was assaulted within his home in Hunter Drive, Irvine, on Thursday.

At 11.50pm a 40-yearold man was asleep in his house when two unknown men wearing balaclavas entered the room and sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance.

The suspects made off from the scene and emergency services were called. The victim was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment to facial injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
