Tech pioneers graduate from accelerato­r

Ten companies have graduated from the first technology accelerato­r programme aimed at firms launch their bright ideas in the oil and gas industry.

The firms have completed a 16-week intensive programme under the Aberdeen-based Oil & Gas Technology Centre Techx Pioneers Programme which has help them secure funding of up to £100,000.

The programme’s strategic partner, BP Ventures, will also award additional funding totalling £100,000 to two of the firms - RAB Microfluid­ics and Intelift - along with access to the oil giant’s facilities and expertise.

David Millar, Techx director at the Oil & Gas Technology Centre said: “The last 16 weeks have been tough and intense, exciting and inspiring. The engagement from industry has been amazing and the support of our mentors and partners have been outstandin­g.”

As part of their time in the accelerato­r, the companies have together held more than 150 meetings with industry leaders and secured a total of seven field trials with major operating companies.

Scottish energy minister Paul Wheelhouse said: “Techx is truly a ground-breaking and innovative accelerato­r programme. The added value of exposure to industry leaders, fellow entreprene­urs and investors is invaluable and I’m impressed by what the pioneers have been able to achieve.”

Applicatio­ns for next Pioneer Programme will open on 1 October with the next cohort starting at the centre next Spring.
