Colain Gurteson In the last century the number of people killed in wars was growing exponentially, reaching 70 million dead in 1945. After that it dropped and has stuck around 1 million deaths annually (still too many). Why the sudden drop? Did politicians of all creeds suddenly acquire a conscience or commonsense and humility? I would suggest no, they didn’t; the cold hard truth is nuclear deterrence works. The term weapons of mass destruction should really be applied to conventional weapons.

What I don’t get is since WW2 not one person has died because of a nuclear bomb being set off. How many have died from guns, grenades, RPGS, tanks, fighter planes, fighter helicopters, yet there are no protesters against these weapons of war?
