- By HANNAH BURLEY

Wireless technology firm Purelifi has collaborated with aerospace and defence company Astronics Corporation to explore the use of Lifi in aircraft.

Astronics will demonstrate the Edinburgh company’s Lifi technology this week at the Apex (Airline Passenger Experience) Expo in Boston, US, which will be attended by more than 3,000 professionals from around 100 airlines.

Lifi uses LEDS (lightemitting diodes) to deliver secure and high-speed wireless connectivity, instead of using radio waves like Wifi.

Purelifi chief executive Alistair Banham said: “To collaborate with an organisation as established as Astronics, which works with all major global airlines and airframe manufacturers, is testament to the strength of our offering.”

Markschwartz, vicepresident of PDT, an Astronics company, added: “Lifi has the opportunity to be a future passenger experience delighter and we are excited to explore and discuss these possibilities with it.”
