Half a million Scottish pensioners are set to miss out on an updated flu jab this winter available in England, due to a procurement blunder. Public health minister Joe Fitzpatrick told Holyrood that NHS National Service Scotland ordered its vaccine before expert advisers recommended changing to a new strain.

Yesterday my wife and myself both received a flyer from NHS Scotland on the flu jab, we were both told our GP practice will be sending us a date for this to happen. What a waste of public money, two letters to be followed by another two. Their procedures need reviewed.

Gavin Beattie This is the second year in a row there has been an SNP blunder with the flu vaccine. Last year there were hundreds of extra deaths due to the Australian Flu not protected by the vaccine.
