Scottish firms keen to adopt flexible working
Almost two-thirds of businesses in Scotland are looking to introduce some form of flexible working, according to a new report.
But the survey of middle market businesses, commissioned by RSM and carried out by Yougov, also found that many firms worry about the security and management implications of such a move.
According to the study, over the next five years, 61 per cent of respondents are consider- ing introducing flexible terms of employment, allowing workers to work outside 9 to 5 or increasing the use of remote working.
Some 8 per cent of firms in Scotland said that they are happy with the flexible working arrangements they currently offer and have no plans to increase them.
Jude Lean, a senior HR consultant at RSM, said: “Employers are becoming much more enlightened about the beneficial impact that flexible working arrangements can have on productivity and efficiency.”
