Nicola Sturgeon faced her weekly grilling from opposition politicians at Holyrood’s latest session of First Minister’s Questions. Ms Sturgeon was pressed on a possible ‘tourist tax’ and perceived Government failings on older people gaining access to a new flu vaccine.

@Bbcphilipsim reported: “#FMQS time; Ruth Davidson leading on new flu vaccine only being offered to over 75s, rather than over 65s as in RUK, due to shortage in stocks of advanced vaccine. FM stresses that the vaccine being offered to those aged 65 and up is effective too.”

@Womenforindy contended: “Ruth Davidson can ask about flu vaccine at #FMQS because Scottish govt accountable for NHS Scotland. However, in England, apparently UK govt leaves it to individual GP practices to order flu vaccine ie Ruth’s UK Government wash hands of any accountability for vaccine availability.”

@Niceconvos added: “Old folks in Scotland: don’t believe the scaremongering from the Tories in Scotland. Go speak to your GP. You are still eligible for a flu shot (as are people with long-term conditions). Your GP will make sure you’ll get the one that is most suitable to you.” @Gordoh hit back:

“We are deep into the weeds of public health management here, but no way that Sturgeon can say the advisory committee recommended the new vaccine is for over-75s only.”

#BETFREDCUP

The semi-final line up of the League Cup, known as the Betfred Cup, was finalised earlier this week, with Celtic set to play Hearts and Rangers to play Aberdeen. However, there is a spanner in the works as both Old Firm teams have Europa League games the week of the semifinals, meaning both games must be played on the same day, with the possibility of one semi being played at Murrayfield.

@Pieandbov wrote: “League cup semi final plan. All four teams inside Hampden, 15,000 tickets each, both games back to back, live on telly, no one leaves until both games are finished. Like the Tennents Sixes on acid.”

@Alexneil1969 predicted: “This Scottish League Cup semi-final is going to be a nightmare, only option will be to play Murrayfield and Hampden on the Sunday.”

@Neilcameron5 joked: “I’ve got it. One semi-final at Lesser Hampden at the same time as the game at Hampden takes place. It’s obvious when you think about it.”
