High-profile appointment for Kilmarnock’s Halo project

Jim Mcmahon is the new non-executive director of the Halo – a major multi-purpose development planned for the site of the former Johnnie Walker bottling plant in Kilmarnock. Mcmahon was a founding partner in West Coast Capital with Sir Tom Hunter and has been a trustee of the Hunter Foundation since 2001. A senior partner in PWC for 14 years and a board member for ten years, he is regarded as one of the UK’S leading advisors to entrepreneurs and has acted for some of the UKS largest entrepreneurial businesses.
● Scottish law firm Morton Fraser has appointed banking law specialist Kirsty Mcbirnie as legal director in its banking and finance group. Mcbirnie has more than 15 years of experience in the sector, having previously advised clients at Pinsent Masons and Brodies. She is the third legal director to be appointed by Morton Fraser in the past 12 months, strengthening the firm’s position as one of Scotland’s largest dedicated finance practices and one of the UK’S largest asset-based lending, asset and invoice finance practices.

Reid established his own private practice in 2007 and has serviced a broad range of clients in both commercial and domestic or residential sectors. He has worked on a variety of instructions/projects for client companies including Halliburton, First Scotrail, Hammerson and Asco, as well as a range of smaller local clients including shop owners, engineering works, landlords and a large number of private clients.
● After a decade of “dedicated service” on the board of Abbeyfield Scotland, chairman James Craigie has retired from the role. Craigie has been chairman of Abbeyfield Scotland, the not-for-profit organisation that provides independent living with support for older people in Scotland, for the past seven years and served on the board for three years before that. He has steered Abbeyfield Scotland through many changes as it adapts to the needs and expectations of older people who need support and care. Following the organisation’s annual general meeting, held on 19 September, the board has appointed Helen Barclay as its new chair.
