Moore the merrier after double

-

Ayr United stayed top of the table after a thumping 5-1 win at Morton, with Craig Moore sending out a reminder that the Honest Men carry more threat than just Lawrence Shankland.

Both Shankland and Moore grabbed doubles in the win while Declan Mcdaid added the fifth.

Moore is delighted to have given manager Ian Mccall a selection problem.

“I had shingles at the start of the season and I have been chasing my tail trying to get back in,” he said. “I have been just coming on and trying to do my bit. Thankfully I did that in this game with my goals and I am banging on the door for a start now.”

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Queen of the South played out a goalless draw in the Highlands. All eyes were on visiting striker Stephen Dobbie to break the deadlock – he’d scored 21 goals in 13 matches prior to kick-off, after all – but the closest he came to scoring was when one of his freekicks struck the bar.

Falkirk remain bottom but they picked up their first win in the Championship this season, beating Alloa 2-0. On-loan Rangers attacker Zak Rudden finished off a breakaway midway through the first half with a glancing header and the same player added the second from close range to get Falkirk up and running under new boss Ray Mckinnon.
