Riddell comes to the rescue for Grange as they down Wildcats

HOCKEY Grange seemed dead and buried midway through the second half, 2-1 down to Western Wildcats and reduced to ten men with a red card to Cammie Fraser, but the first division champions emerged with a 3-2 victory thanks to a Duncan Riddell penalty corner. Edinburgh University moved into second spot with a 6-3 win over Kelburne. It was a poor weekend for Kelburne. The previous day they went down 6-5 to Clydesdale. Grove Menzieshil­l looked efficient in their 4-0 win over Uddingston.

Edinburgh University moved up to fourth in the women’s first division after a 6-1 thumping of Glasgow in the varsity clash, with Sophie Maunder bagging a brace.

In Cardiff, Jen Wilson started her new post as Scotland women’s head coach with a 2-1 win over Wales yesterday.
