Dear Nanny
The Scottish Government’s Dear Haters campaign, which is being rolled out on billboards through out Scotland, strikes me as very old fashioned.
The Stonewall Riots were two generations ago in a country which was, and is, far less tolerant than ours. These days most people have friends and relatives from various minorities. If few people have trans friends it is only because there are very few trans people to go around.
No doubt there are narrowminded people and those who completely lack empathy, but is that any reason for the Scottish government to act as universal nursery teacher to the adult population of Scotland? Surely government time and money would be better spent on the challenges facing our schools, hospitals and other public services.
