Pensioner death in altercation was ‘suspicious’

A pensioner has died after an alleged altercation with a man in Oban.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, was seriously injured in the incident at Columba Court in Oban about 9:40am on Monday.

Hewastakentothetown’s Lorn and Islands Hospital where he died.

The man has still to be formally identified and a post mortem will take place in due course. However, the death is being treated as suspicious.

Police said a 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged. He was due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court yesterday.
